Before you begin
Before attempting to install an eSIM, you will need:
- A strong internet connection - Ideally you will need to be connected to Wi-Fi, or a good mobile data connection (4G or 5G)
- An eSIM compatible device - If you are unsure whether your device is compatible with eSIMs, please check the following article: List of compatible devices
- The device is network unlocked - If you are unsure whether or not your device is locked to a certain network, please check the following article: Locked/unlocked devices
Do not forget to turn on Data Roaming once the installation is complete.
Install an eSIM manually
The exact steps may vary slightly depending on the version of Android installed on your Fairphone device.
- Open the Settings app on your Fairphone device.
- Tap on Network & Internet.
- Tap on Mobile network.
- Tap on Advanced.
- Tap on Carrier.
- Tap on the plus sign (+) at the top right corner.
- Enter the eSIM activation code provided by your mobile network operator.
- Tap on Add.
- Wait for the eSIM to download and activate.
- Once the eSIM is activated, you can select it as your primary SIM card in the Mobile network settings.
